You have an absorbing and informative web presence. You fastidiously update its content. But you want customers to view your latest information, that new product or special offer - and you want them to see it now. The good news is that you can.
e-Marketing is a highly cost-effective means of keeping your customers updated with the latest information about your business. It enables you to market your website electronically to specific customers, quickly and directly, maximising the potential of your website.
Traditionally, this has been achieved by developing a customer e-mail database, often taking information from forms sent via the website and then direct marketing via e-mail. This method still has its merits and by using precise targeting can in some instances by highly successful. But the world wide web is battling to stem a seemingly endless flow of SPAM by means of preventative controls employed by ISPs, user-installed software and firewalls. These measures mean that many valid e-mails are filtered out before reaching their destination, meaning that much of the effectiveness of e-mail marketing has been lost.
However, alternative approaches are available. RSS, or Really Simple Syndication RSS is an emerging technology developed for syndicating news. Web users can download RSS reading software from a number of sources, often free of charge, which enables them to read RSS fed news channels. By having your own dedicated news channel to which customers can subscribe free of charge, you can alert users to new information on your website each time they open their news reader.
